The Lakeland Queen Matariki Celebrations

This month Central Kids Fordlands tamariki and whānau sailed on board the Lakeland Queen on a coffee and juice cruise to celebrate Matariki.

This was a chance for us to come together at this special time of year, and show our appreciation to whānau. It also gave tamariki a chance to sight the places associated with the cultural traditions and stories from this place, like the island of Mokoia (which was the home of Hatu-Patu.)

The tamariki and whānau enjoyed a juice and muffin for afternoon tea before heading out on deck to experience with all their senses the  wonderful feeling of being out in the natural world on our beautiful blue lake Rotorua.
