My early childhood experience began twenty years ago, when my mother asked me to take my niece Alia to play group. My daughter, Marylise was about 14 months at the time and wanted to stay and play with her cousin, as most children that age get excited playing with the equipment. My daughter’s excitement was contagious and I became involved with the playgroup committee and eventually decided to train to become an early childhood teacher.

I enrolled with Te Rito Maioha formerly known as Te Tari Puna o Aotearoa, graduating in 2007 with a Diploma of Teaching ECE. In 2014 I completed my upgrade papers, graduating in 2015 with a Bachelor of Teaching ECE.

I bring with me past experiences that have shaped me to become the teacher that I am, with a knowledge of Te Reo Māori and tikanga, and a knowledge of the language and culture of my heritage of the Cook Islands.
