‘Atuitui’ia au ki te Oneone o to̅ku ‘Ui Tupuna-connect me to soil of my ancestors
This week Arohanui Kindergarten celebrated Epetoma o̅ te reo Ma̅ori ku̅ki ‘A̅irani by making the traditional corn beef, tomato, onion and coconut cream dish known as Puatoro and sitting down altogether to celebrate and eat .
To acknowledge this year’s theme of ‘Atuitui’ia au ki te Oneone o to̅ku ‘Ui Tupuna tamariki brought in photos of their ancestors to share their whakapapa with one another, allowing tamariki to make connections with their language, culture and identity.
