At Central Kids Selwyn in Rotorua, we are loving the creativity of our tamariki. There has been much interest in, and exploration of art recently. Threading, gluing of collage, glitter pictures, finger painting and drawing are among the most popular activities our tamariki are engaging in.
Not only are tamariki learning art and craft skills, they are also learning to turn their thinking and planning into a tangible product. Plus they are learning how to work alongside and with others and all the negotiation and sharing that this requires. Kōrero about their work means that language skills are practiced and new language can be introduced both from their peers and from kaiako.
A bonus of tamariki interest is that our kindergarten is being fabulously decorated too. Come in and see for yourself, anytime!
