For Matariki this year Central Kids Kindergartens – Charles, we celebrated by planting a grove of native trees using Kakabeak and Kowhai trees. We want to encourage a more native and natural environment and encourage more of our native birds to the area. Children; their families, and teachers were supported by South Waikato Councillor Herman van Rooijen during the planting.
After all this work everyone sat down and had a shared kai lunch of four different types of homemade soup – chicken alphabet; pumpkin and kumara; leek, potato and bacon; and vegetable. Supported with freshly made takakau bread. Nourishing, heart, mind, body and spirit.
Everyone is looking forward to watching our new trees grow and helping to take care of them and the wildlife that may come to visit.
