For April this year, we did something completely different from what we have ever done before and we as a team took part, along with the rest of Aotearoa in being in a lockdown situation.
This however, did not stop us from connecting with our centre whānau as we were lucky enough to have all of our whānau connected via Storypark. This enabled tamariki and whānau to have sneak peak into our daily lives during this time.
Sarsha shared videos, some where she read stories and she even made Gloop to help whānau with play ideas. Ana-Mei shared her recipe for feijoa fizz and read some much loved pukapuka. Val shared her recipe for Pavlova that everyone wanted her to make and send to us. Tania didn’t have connections to Storypark from her whare, so us teachers made sure we connected on a daily basis via Messanger and Rhonda shared some weird and wonderful recipes and ideas around ways to create environmentally friendly art supplies, egg shell glitter and homemade paint. Not to forget being able to catch up on lots of learning stories for tamariki to read and remember all the amazing learning that they have been doing.
This time became a time for connection and reconnection in many different ways for everyone in the whole world, what a unique experience for us all.
