The tamariki at Central Kids Rewi Street Kindergarten are developing their relationships with ngā Atua o te ao Māori. Last year one of our parents painted an image of Tāne Mahuta on a wooden panel and we placed him out in the ngahere where tamariki can interact with him.
Now another parent, Chrissy has painted images of Tāwhirimatea and Tangaroa and we are excited to place them around the outdoor playspace. Chrissy also drew fish on wood (ngā tamariki o Tangaroa) which were painted by tamariki at Rewi Street, incorporating their own creative vision.
Thanks to our awesome parents and their amazing gifts, the tamariki can engage with a tangible representation of the atua in their play.
