Dog education at Huntly West

Dog education at Huntly West

Recently we were very lucky to have a visit from Zoey, the Waikato District Council  Education and Engagement Officer and her dog Koey.

She spent time talking to the children about what to do when they meet a dog that doesn’t belong to them.  She talked about the importance of asking if it is ok to pat a dog. Zoey then showed the children how to make a safe fist with their hand, and to let the dog sniff their hand before patting the dog on the chest.  The tamariki then waited patiently for their turn to pat Koey.
