Today at Central Kids Balmoral Kindergarten, tamariki and kaimahi participated in the National Earthquake Drill -Shakeout. After listening to Stan the dog and his instructions on what we need to do when an earthquake happened, it was time to practice.
Shakeout it is a self-run drill held across the world to remind people of the right action to take during an Earthquake – Drop, Cover, and Hold. Once it was all safe, the kaimahi spoke about how buildings can fall and how the roads can develop cracks, which can lead to gathering some sand. Angela demonstrated how the Earth shakes and cracks appeared in the sand just like the road.
