At Central Kids Tairua Kindergarten, we recently utilised the skins after making beetroot chips for an eco friendly alternative to using paint from a plastic bottle.

We boiled the beetroot skins in a little bit of water and made a beautiful natural dye.

Tamariki really loved learning how easy it is to create natural dye, with the dye they created used for painting later in the day.

This has inspired tamariki and kaiako to think outside the square and increase our environmental lens when we consider future purchases of painting.
