Here at Central Kids Ngātea Kindergarten, we have been looking at life cycles and transformation; the life cycles of plants, frogs, butterflies, chickens and cicadas.
Instilling curiosity and wonder, a love of the land and nature, ensures our tamariki will gain appreciation and respect for Papatūānuku – Mother Earth. We aim to support a generation of ‘eco warriors’ the modern day conservationists who are connected with each other and the world around them. Learning about life cycles and transformation through natural exploration supports a strong foundation for developing working theories for making sense of the natural world around them. Our tamariki will gain a sense of purpose to protect and support these creature to be successful.
For some of us, being a part of these learning journeys is a way to ‘push-reset’ to calm our busy bodies, to stop a while and enjoy the beauty around us.
