Kia ora, my name is Sean Reilly, I am a father of Anabela and my partner Sharon and I are expecting another daughter soon.
I grew up in Whitianga and actually attended Mercury Bay Kindergarten when I was a child. I have always thought how wonderful it would be to work there and am very excited about getting into my role, helping tamariki learn and grow.
Being from a small community has helped drive my philosophy as a teacher and when I studied at Waikato University my thought process around this was reinforced. My teaching pedagogy is foregrounded by Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory, as I believe that relationships with people and places in our lives helps to develop who we are and who we become in the future.
I am passionate about my role as an ECE teacher, and am a strong advocate for children’s rights to have quality care in their lives.
I have a love and passion for our environment and believe it is our job as kaitiaki/guardians to role model preserving and maintaining a safe and sustainable future for us all.
Once again, I am very excited about sharing my role and being part of the Central Kids team. I feel privileged to be able to work and learn alongside some very knowledgeable teachers as well as the tamariki and whānau within our community.
