The team at Central Kids Ōtorohanga would like to thank the Trustpower Heartland Community Fund for their support of our water tank project. Your grant has enabled us to install a large 1000 litre tank which we have hidden behind our shed. This tank collects the rain water from the roof of our main building and we have had the water piped to the sandpit area, where a hand pump mechanism can be accessed by the children to use for their play and watering the gardens.
Through this addition, our tamariki are learning about water conservation and where water comes from. We also use this water to ensure our vegetable gardens continue to thrive. Our children will also be able to measure the amount of water in the tank and monitor it as they use it.
