We were delighted to welcome our friends from Central Kids Rewi Street again this year to celebrate Matariki together. This is an annual event that allows kaiako and tamariki alike to come together and form relationships, share ideas and simply have fun.
Our friends arrived a bit wet after their exploration of the Kiwi House on this wet day. We helped them to feel warm and welcome with a hakapowhiri performed by our very small group of tamariki (thanks to winter colds and flu). And dare I say our outdoor heaters worked a treat to warm our manuwhiri.
Then we all gathered inside where Julie welcomed our friends with a small speech, followed by a waiata sung by the tangata whenua. Then it was time for kai with sausage rolls and platters of fruit on offer. Play followed with all tamariki mingling and having lots of fun. We enjoy these times when we are able to come together as part of a collective to support the learning and adventures of all our tamariki. See you all again next year.
