We held our annual ‘Whānau Breakfast’ to celebrate Matariki. This is a chance for whānau to get to know one another in a casual atmosphere and eat delicious kai.
The kaiako were frantically busy in the kihini from 8am as they cooked copious amounts of bacon, scrambled eggs and toast for the forty-eight whānau members that attended. There was also cereals and fruit on offer as well as Milo and water to drink.
The centre was set up with tables in a café style. It was great to see so many whānau members, including some we hadn't met before. And what a special event for our tamariki who were able to have their wider family be included in the celebrations. Linda blessed the kai early with a karakia kai. Then everyone ate to their hearts content.
