The tamariki at both Central Kids Huntly and Huntly West enjoyed a visit from our local real life superhero’s, in the form of Police Officers Ryan and Wini who visited Huntly and Linda and Jennifer who visited Huntly West.
These four Community Officers form part of a team dedicated to building trust relationships with our community and what better way to do so than coming along with an agenda of PLAY.
When the Police cars were brought into the playground, the level of curiosity grew, and many ventured closer to investigate and jump in. The tamariki were quick to begin a full investigation of the glove box, under the seats, horn, steering wheel, and several managed to figure out how to turn not only the lights on, but the sirens too. What power they had with that switch! Whoop, whoop! Some even got to wear real Police hats.
We hope this will form a regular part of our curriculum for our two Central Kids Huntly Kindergartens.
