Yesterday, Ruben the Road Safety Bear came to visit our kindergarten with Garry his helper. Garry told us all the things Ruben wanted us to know, even the words to his road safety song.
Some tamariki got to hold road signs, and talk about that they mean, such as red for stop, orange for slow down and green for go. While other tamariki chose to hold Ruben’s hand as they crossed the zebra crossing, making sure to keep looking out for cars and walk.
When Ruben left, he magically disappeared through the resource cupboard.
After morning tea, many tamariki decided to practice what they had just been doing with Ruben, stopping, looking and linking, before crossing the road.
