Over the past few weeks, all tamariki have had an opportunity to host one of several native creatures (the soft toy variety!) at their house for a night. We have birds, as well as a tuatara, and some sea creatures in a habitat we set up inside the playroom. Each creature comes in its own kete along with some information about it and a notebook. We ask whānau to write in the notebook about their child’s experience of having the creature at home.
To celebrate the end of this time, we invited our whānau to come and plant trees and shrubs into our playground. We followed up this hard mahi with a hākari.
