Central Kids Kihikihi Kindergarten would like to extend our sincerest thanks for the recently received grant of $2500 from the Sargood Bequest Committee, and to the Waipa District Council for the $1000 Community Discretionary Fund.
These funds were utilised, along with local community fundraising, to allow the installation of plastic blinds to our existing carpentry shed. Tamariki, their whānau and future generations will be able to enjoy this building for years to come.
The shed is now in use and as children construct their creations mathematical concepts, problem solving skills, communicating with each other and working as a team are being promoted as they learn through their play. This structure provides shelter from the wind and the rain allowing tamariki to continue their play and learning regardless of the weather.
As an Enviroschool sustainability is a big part of our kaupapa. Within the Carpentry Shed children are able to learn about re-using materials, re-purposing and recycling; supporting tamariki to develop a love of the environment, make sense of their world, and develop ways to care for Papatūānuku.
We are so greatful to the Sargood Bequest Committee and for the Waipa Fund.
