Play is important at Huntly Kindergarten. In our warm and homelike environment, tamariki are free to explore learning opportunities in their own way and in their own time.
Promoting a culture of kindness our values include aroha, manaakitanga (hospitality), whakawhanaungatanga (relationships) and kotahitanga (unity).
We see tamariki as capable learners and let them lead the way – the team creates the scene, based on their knowledge of each tamaiti.
We value connection with Papatuuaanuku and go on regular excursions to the ngahere (bush) with groups of our older tamariki, who love spending time in nature.
Huntly Kindergarten provides kai for all tamariki in partnership with KidsCan, as part of the KidsCan ECE Food for Kids programme.
Nau mai haere mai, our kettle is always on and we welcome our kindergarten community to come in and see us any time.

"My children have attended Huntly Kindergarten since 2022 when we first moved to Huntly. The staff are amazing, kind and caring. The kindergarten resources provide all the elements a child needs to nurture their social, emotional and academic development; which is handy for our children moving into primary school. The kindergarten boasts a huge indoor and outdoor learning and play area (the largest you will find in Huntly) with lots of activities. Your child will never get bored! A bonus that a lot of kindergartens do not offer - male teachers. My two boys absolutely love male role models and these male teachers have an abundance of knowledge to share. My children have learnt so much during their time at Huntly Kindergarten and will miss their female and male teachers when they move on to primary school."
