Relationships between kaiako and tamariki are respectful, close and trusting. We work in partnership with whānau and involve them in decision making. The concepts of manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, kaitiakitanga are embedded in our practice, contributing to tamariki and whānau having a strong sense of belonging to the kindergarten.
Language, culture and identity are celebrated here at Balmoral Kindergarten. We seek ways to maintain tamariki connection with their cultural identity. Partnerships with whānau lead to reciprocal information sharing about culture, needs, interests and home experiences, which are interwoven into learning experiences. Tamariki are proud to share their culture and often contribute to the learning of their peers through the sharing of waiata and cultural practices. All tamariki benefit from these experiences and Māori tamariki are well supported to experience success as Māori.
Through research and our own extensive experience, we strongly believe in an organised environment with routines, but one where tamariki are able to make choices, think independently and develop their own sense of judgement and decision making.
Balmoral Kindergarten provides kai for all tamariki in partnership with KidsCan, as part of the KidsCan ECE Food for Kids programme.
Nau mai, haere mai, we welcome you to visit our kindergarten any time.

"Loved the large outdoor space with the large sandpit and swings at Balmoral Kindergarten. My son and daughter both enjoyed the free play and the philosophy of ngā kaiako who supported us throughout the time we were there."
