Protection of tamariki

Central Kids is committed to the protection of tamariki and to the prevention of all forms of abuse.

Central Kids values tamariki, respecting both their rights and the rights of their whānau, embracing their difference, understanding diversity, and recognising the importance of providing a safe and nurturing environment.

Central Kids is committed to supporting and empowering all tamariki to reach their full potential.

Our Protection of Tamariki Policy ensures we follow safe practices. When any decision is made by Central Kids about known or suspected child abuse, it will always be the welfare and best interests of the tamaiti that are our primary consideration.

Central Kids kaiako have undergone specialist child protection training, and they know what do to if abuse is disclosed, witnessed or suspected. Our kaiako are committed to taking action as outlined in our Protection of Tamariki Policy.

Central Kids recognises its obligations, both legally and morally, to act to keep tamariki safe and will consult with Oranga Tamariki, the Police, and other appropriate agencies that have specialist knowledge to help protect tamariki from all forms of harm.

If you are concerned about the safety and wellbeing of a tamaiti, it is important that you do not act alone about these concerns. You can consult with one of our kaiako, who will take action as outlined in our Protection of Tamariki Policy.

At any time you may seek advice directly from Oranga Tamariki (0508 326 459) regarding any tamaiti protection concern.
