At Central Kids Huntly West we offer many opportunities for tamariki to explore and learn through their own interests, both inside the kindergarten and within the wider community.
Becoming more sustainable and connecting tamariki with the wonders of nature is important to us. Children enjoy gardening alongside teaching staff and especially enjoy eating our strawberries and fresh peas from out of the pod. Our oldest children are offered the opportunity to spend one day a week in the bush through our ngahere excursions where they get to explore in a completely natural environment, climbing trees, scaling and sliding down banks, finding creepy crawlies, working together, and setting their own challenges.
With our own newly purchased van we are also able to offer other either pre-planned or spontaneous small group age or interest appropriate excursions e.g. school, library, marae visits.
Whanaungatanga and manaakitanga are values that we hold dear so we appreciate all whanau involvement whether it is just to stay for a cuppa or to offer your expertise.
